The short version
All calculations on MoneyMaths happen locally in your browser. We do not collect, store, transmit, or sell any of the financial numbers you enter. Your data never leaves your device.

1. Who We Are

MoneyMaths (moneymaths.net) is a free, static finance calculator website. We provide tools to help people make better financial decisions.

2. Data We Do Not Collect

We want to be explicit about what we do not collect:

  • Financial figures you enter into any calculator (loan amounts, income, savings, etc.)
  • Results of any calculation
  • Your name, email address, or any personal identifiers
  • Account information (there are no accounts)
  • Payment information (the site is free)

All calculator logic runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript. No input data is ever sent to our servers or any third party.

3. Data We Do Collect

3.1 Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site in aggregate. GA4 may collect:

  • Pages visited and time spent on each page
  • General geographic location (country/city level, not precise)
  • Browser type and device type
  • Referral source (how you arrived at the site)

This data is anonymised and aggregated. We use it only to understand which calculators are most used and how to improve the site. GA4 data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

You can opt out of GA4 tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by using a browser extension that blocks tracking scripts.

3.2 Exchange Rate API

The Currency Converter fetches live exchange rates from Frankfurter.app, a free, open-source API. This request contains no personal data — it simply retrieves the current rates for the currency pair you selected. Your IP address may be visible to the Frankfurter API as part of any standard web request.

3.3 Browser Storage

The Currency Converter temporarily stores exchange rates in your browser's sessionStorage to avoid redundant API calls within the same browsing session. This data is stored only on your device, never on our servers, and is cleared automatically when you close your browser tab.

3.4 Advertising (Google AdSense)

MoneyMaths displays ads served by Google AdSense to help fund this free site. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies and similar technologies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this site and other sites, and to measure ad performance. Depending on your location, this may include personalized advertising based on your browsing activity.

You can review or adjust how Google personalizes ads at Google Ad Settings, or opt out of personalized advertising from participating providers at aboutads.info. Ad-related cookies never have access to the financial figures you enter into a calculator — those stay in your browser and are never transmitted anywhere.

4. Cookies

MoneyMaths does not use first-party cookies. Google Analytics 4 may set cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to distinguish visitors, and Google AdSense may set advertising cookies to serve and measure ads, as described above. These third-party cookies do not contain any financial data you have entered.

5. Third-Party Services

MoneyMaths loads resources from the following third-party services:

  • Google Fonts — for typography. Google may log the font request.
  • Cloudflare CDN — for Chart.js. Used to render charts.
  • Google Analytics — for usage analytics as described above.
  • Google AdSense — to display ads that help fund this free site, as described in Section 3.4.
  • Frankfurter.app — for live exchange rates in the Currency Converter.

We have no control over the data practices of these third parties. We have chosen services with strong privacy track records and use them minimally.

6. Data Sharing and Sale

We do not sell, trade, or rent your data. This free site is funded by Google AdSense and uses Google Analytics, both described above — beyond that, we do not share data with third parties for marketing purposes. The financial figures you enter into any calculator are never collected, shared, or monetised in any way; they never leave your browser.

7. Children's Privacy

MoneyMaths is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Your Rights

Because we do not collect personal data, there is no personal data to access, correct, or delete. If you have questions about data that third-party services (such as Google Analytics) may have collected, please refer to their respective privacy policies and opt-out mechanisms.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. We will not introduce data collection practices that contradict our core commitment without prominent notice.
